A lot of women changed their plans about graduating because they preferred to marry and to raise their kids. But times passed, their kids went to school, women find that they need extra money for their families, and they decided to develop their career, but it is hard without graduation. It is a popular opinion that all money for higher education is available only for high school kids and it is impossible to others to get it. It is a mistake, because there are a big amount of scholarships and grants, which are targeted at women who want to continue their education and get the degree. The problem is to find them.
At first you can refer to Jeanette Rankin Foundation, they give money to 35 or older low-income women who wish to go back to school. Those women, who can show how a degree can help them make their lives better, or the situation in their family or even their whole community, will get $2,000 grants
Women, who want to pursue a post-graduate degree in accounting, can refer to the Educational Foundation for Women in Accounting. The scholarships range from $1,000 to $5,000.
Some women come to the situation when they need to continue their work after leaving, they want to have a baby or to work home for a while. In this situation they feel the necessity of new skills to compete with new college graduates in the field. There is a solution for women in such situation, provided by The Possible Woman Foundation International. With $2,000 or $4,000 grants women get an opportunity to re-enter the workforce and be successful with new skills.
The Selected Professions Fellowships are targeted on those women, who have already an undergraduate degree and just look how to improve upon it. The sponsor of this substantial grant (between $5,000 and $20,000) is the American Association of University Women. It is given to women who want to graduate in a specific field, such as computer and information sciences, engineering, math and statistics, or architecture.
But not only women who study science or math can get the money for pursuing a degree, artistic women are lucky as well. For example, if you come from the communities that are marginalized from artistic professions, you can get the $5,000 fellowship from the College Art Association. If you want to study culture you can get $1,000 from the National Sculpture Society.
We told you only about several options for women who plan to get back to school. So remember that you quit school just to care for your family. And now with new opportunities, both you and them will have a brighter future, just do something for yourself.
