It is not a secret that almost every parent wants to afford a private education for his kids, parents of underprivileged children want that too. Their children usually go to the under-performing schools, and the only thing they talking after studying is gangs and drugs, but not the math and science. The good news is that the Children’s Scholarship Fund understands that education starts long before college, that is why it gives an opportunity to some children to attend private schools and help them to prepare for their future education.
The Children’s Scholarship Fund was founded in 1998, since then it helped over 1.25 million children. But the Children’s Scholarship Fund does not pay the whole amount of money for the education. Parents have to pay the portion and the Fund pays the rest. Usually, the Fund in this program pays half of the child’s education costs.
Let’s find out who can get money in this program. There are special income guidelines for every state where the Children’s Scholarship Fund operates. Such guidelines are almost the same as the guidelines for the Federal school lunch program. Such things like family size and income affect the decision whether or not a family qualifies for help. You also must remember that only children in Kindergarten through 8th grade qualify the Children’s Scholarship Fund program.
If you want to apply for this program you must visit the organization’s website and find out the link to the nearest office. You’ll find information about actual scholarships. If you are lucky and there is an office in your area with available scholarships, you should choose a private school as well. After that you must contact the office and find out how to apply.
There is also a regular newsletter called Required Reading issued by The Children’s Scholarship Fund. You’ll find a lot of interesting information in it about the efforts of the organization’s members, about their awards and places where they have spoken. Information about academically successful students within the program is also highlighted in it.
If you are not a low-income parent, you are not looking for the scholarship, but you want to help this organization, you can give a charitable donation to the Children’s Scholarship Fund. You will help underprivileged kids to get a good education. It cost as low as $700 to support a child for one year in the program, because the Children’s Scholarship Fund will match this donation, and the rest of the educational expenses will be paid by the child’s family. It is not expensive to ensure that kids will have a proper education.
